İshâkıye Mosque is one of the old Byzantine temples and was originally a church named after Panteleimon, one of the saints. Some time after Thessaloniki was conquered, Panteleimon Church was converted into a mosque by İshak Pasha by adding mihrab, minbar, minaret, mahfil and fountain. There is another mosque in Thessaloniki. After the surrender of Thessaloniki to the Greeks by Hasan Tahsin Pasha at the end of the Balkan War in 1912, the mosque was converted back
