Midilli, Kelemye Köyü Câmii

It is located in Keramia, one of the small villages of Lesbos. It is also registered in the waqf liquidation book (evkâf tasfiye) numbered 613 and was liquidated for 600 Turkish Gold Liras even though it had an area of 120 m2. There is a 1697 monetary foundation. The mosque was converted into a church in 1928 with the efforts of the Metropolitan of Lesbos Yakovos after the migration of the people of the village to Anatolia. In its original form, the mosque, which has a square plan measuring approximately 9.5 x 9.5 meters from the outside, was built with stone and brick walls. During the conversion into a church, an apse was added to the qibla facade of the mosque and a bell tower was added to the entrance. In 1967, the building was renovated and the entrance part was also changed and became what it is today. The main place of worship was built over a vaulted gallery. The bowl of the minaret in the northeast corner has survived adjacent to the body wall.
