The newly established neighborhood of fifty houses in the city center of Kavala, near the military warehouse, was called Selimiye Neighborhood in memory of Sultan Selim. A mosque was also built in this new neighborhood known as Suyolu. Selimiye Mahallesi (Debboy) Mosque is registered in the Ev.K.K. The mosque, which was used as a military ammunition depot after 1924, was demolished in 1948 and the construction of the Timios Stavros Church was started; it was opened for rituals on November 27, 1960. Today, the church is located at the intersection of Konstantinou Piitou and Sappeon streets. From the satellite image, it can be seen that it is located at an angle of 141.610 from the north in the direction of the qibla. In a photograph of Kavala taken from the castle, the mosque can be seen on the hill. It is understood that it is a modest building with two rows of windows and a tile roof. It is likely that the walls of the old mosque were used, since the existing church is located directly towards the qibla.
