Girit, Hanya, Kalami Câmii

In 1893, a mosque, a school and a bathhouse were built in the village of Kalami, next to the Izzeddin Fortress at the entrance of Suda Port, for the soldiers in the fort and the people living in the vicinity. The mosque is a small rectangular temple built in local style. After the Turkish rule in the region, it was converted into a church under the name of St. Titus. In the old photograph of the building, the minaret in the northeast corner was completely removed during the repairs in the following years. The mihrab of the mosque, which has two windows on the north and west facades and three windows on the east facade, is carried outward from the facade. One of the windows on the west façade was first turned into a door and then covered. The walls of the mosque, where smooth-cut stones are used in the corners and window jambs, are plastered. The epitaph place above the entrance door is empty. A bell was hung above this part. In the interior, the front of the mihrab was raised by two steps and a wooden iconostasis wall was added here.
