Egiros Village is located 22 km east of Drama. After the population exchange in 1923, Greeks from Samsun's Bafra district were settled in Kavaklı, which was a Turkish village, and the name of the village was changed to Egiros in 1927. Kavaklı Village Mosque is mentioned in the Ev.K.K. as Ahmed ve Mehmed Ağalar Câmii. After the exchange, it was converted into a church under the name of St. George. A bell tower was added to the west façade of the rectangular planned and hipped roofed building. The mihrab and minbar were removed and replaced with a wooden iconostasis. The women's cloister with wooden poles on the upper floor of the entrance section is still standing.
