The village of Zazali (Zazalo) is located in the Adygeni region, 13 km northwest of the Ardahan Türkgözü border crossing. The mosque was built on a slight slope to the south of the village. After the Muslim population of Zazali was deported to Central Asia by Stalin in 1944, the mosque was destroyed. In 1982, when the village was re-settled, a small chapel was built on the ruins of the mosque by the Christian residents of the village.
